PCAOB Services

PCAOB services include engagement quality (concurring) reviews for interim and annual audited filings, quality control reviews prior to PCAOB inspection of audit workpapers, assistance with PCAOB inspections, responses to PCAOB inspections, and assistance with improvement in PCAOB inspection results and quality control. I also provide consultations related to technical GAAP, GAAS, or PCAOB issues. I provide the technical support and expertise to smaller CPA firms that a large firm has in house with the same level of quality and expertise. I can also provide services to your SEC clients such as consultation on technical GAAP and SEC issues. However, if that service is provided to clients, I cannot provide concurring review services to the audit firm because of independence issues.

Logistics

If workpapers are done in hard copy format, you send via FedEx or other secure carrier those workpapers to review including planning, general, analysis, and applicable permanent files. If workpapers are done in electronic format, you can either send a laptop loaded with applicable software and workpapers or allow log in to your system via the internet and review files on your server. For very small engagements I have also had the files sent via email. No files have been lost or hacked during the years I have provided these services, however, I recommend that you consult with your IT expert to make sure your system is secure. I do not revise or mark workpapers but provide a memo that exceeds PCAOB standards for your workpapers at the conclusion of the service. I can provide services other than concurring reviews with no documentation if preferred. I can also be on site for any on site PCAOB inspections. Often, issues can be addressed immediately without ever reaching the comment stage.

Timing

Generally, clients inform me at least one month prior that they are requesting a concurrent review or other filings specific service so it is on the schedule. For large operating companies, I prefer to have a week to review workpapers. Development stage or shell companies reviews generally take two days. Interim filings can be done within 24 hours, generally 4 hours.
